About The Position

The SYEP Site Monitor's primary responsibility is to oversee the well-being and performance of Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) participants at their worksites, ensuring a safe and productive environment, while also maintaining accurate records and fostering strong relationships with supervisors and participants. SCS is a multi-service, community-based organization providing a broad range of services to approximately 16,000 people each year. Our services include pre-kindergarten and after school programs; college prep and career programs for teens and young adults; supports for immigrants; a vibrant senior center, dedicated home care services, support and assistance for family caregivers, and social adult day program for people with cognitive and physical impairments.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred in relevant field. High school diploma required.
  • Bilingual (Spanish preferred) strongly desired.
  • Meet background check and DOE Fingerprint Verification.
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and dependable, with experience in managing paperwork and meeting deadlines.
  • Positive role model for young people, with demonstrated ability to relate effectively to youth.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate discretion.
  • The ability to travel to various worksites within the boroughs via public transportation.
  • Able to work well with diverse personalities and populations.
  • Working knowledge of youth development principles and practices.
  • Experience working with high school students or academic programs.
  • Ability to be proactive and work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with youth.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.), and online platforms such as Google Classroom and Zoom required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct pre-assessments of work sites prior to participant placement.
  • Assist with participant enrollment and collection of required documentation.
  • Conduct weekly work site visits to check in with participants, complete written assessments, and ensure safe, productive environments.
  • Retrieve and verify weekly timesheets, evaluations, and job placement referrals for each participant.
  • Audit participant and work site files to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Build professional relationships with work site supervisors and program participants.
  • Address and resolve work site or participant issues, escalating concerns to supervisors when necessary.
  • Ensure all time sheets and documentation are accurate and completed on time.
  • Demonstrate appropriate boundaries with participants, parents, work sites, and colleagues.
  • Assist with program closeout processes and audits.
  • Support overall SYEP operations and assist with special projects as assigned.
  • Attend job related trainings/workshops.
  • Communicate with administration/supervisor regarding participant engagement, attendance, and supportive service needs.
  • Assist in all SYEP related program operations and other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.

Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $20.00 - $22.00
  • Part-Time; Seasonal position
