About The Position

The SYEP Education Coordinator is responsible for implementing and supporting the educational components of the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). This role focuses on developing participants’ work readiness skills, career exploration, and academic support through structured workshops and activities. The SYEP Education Coordinator ensures that program policies and procedures are clearly communicated to all participants, providing guidance and support so participants have a clear understanding of program expectations and the requirements for successful participation. The SYEP Education Coordinator works collaboratively with program staff and all stakeholder to ensure program goals are met and that all educational components align with DYCD guidelines and requirements.

Requirements

  • Some college coursework required; Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, trainings, or educational programming for youth.
  • Strong background in youth development, workforce development, or education-based programs.
  • Familiarity with the DYCD SYEP program, policies, and guidelines strongly preferred.
  • Ability to clearly communicate program policies, procedures, and expectations to youth and families.
  • Experience supporting youth with work readiness skills, including resume development and career exploration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive).
  • Experience using virtual meeting platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams).
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, including maintaining accurate program files.
  • Ability to enter and manage data in online systems such as DYCD YEPS.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to address participant concerns professionally.
  • Must be reliable, detail-oriented, and able to meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours within program needs and travel to worksites as required.

Responsibilities

  • Model and uphold all Agency rules and expectations.
  • Utilize the DYCD curriculum to create engaging and informative workshops for SYEP participants.
  • Work closely with the Program Supervisor to oversee and support curriculum implementation.
  • Coordinate with and communicate with guest speakers to enhance curriculum delivery.
  • Assist participants with resume development and career readiness skills.
  • Support worksite development efforts as needed.
  • Assist with SYEP job placement as required.
  • Maintain accurate and organized program files.
  • Enter and manage program-related documentation in the DYCD YEPS system.
  • Create and submit program-related reports, including Excel spreadsheets and Word documents, as requested.
  • Work collaboratively and professionally with a diverse group of colleagues and partners.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
