About The Position

The Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership (SEZP) is seeking a Special Education Teacher (Life Skills) for grades 6-8. This full-time position is set to start on August 18, 2025. The role involves enacting anti-racist instructional practices, providing rigorous course content, and working collaboratively with a co-taught team. The teacher will engage with families and provide embedded interventions for students needing additional support. Other duties may be assigned by the school Principal.

Requirements

• Experience teaching in middle school or high school preferred
• Appropriate content/program area and grade level educator license (Moderate Disabilities) from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required
• Experience as an active anti-racist, LGBTQ+ advocate, or organizer for equity preferred
• Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
• Bachelor's degree required

Responsibilities

• Enacting anti-racist instructional practices that ensure students own the learning
• Providing grade level rigor in the course content using highly-rated, research-based curriculum
• Providing embedded interventions for students needing additional support, time, or scaffolds
• Working closely with a co-taught team of two to three additional educators in the classroom
• Engaging with families as partners in the learning around successes, challenges, and problem-solving on behalf of our scholars
• Other duties as determined by the school Principal
