About the position

The Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership (SEZP) is seeking a dedicated educator for grades 6-8, starting on August 18, 2025. This role involves enacting anti-racist instructional practices to ensure that students take ownership of their learning. The educator will instruct students daily in small group settings to enhance traditional in-class mathematics instruction, prepare tutoring plans tailored to individual student needs, and coordinate with various stakeholders to maximize student achievement. The position also includes providing embedded interventions for students requiring additional support, collaborating with a co-taught team of educators, and engaging with families to discuss student progress and challenges. Additional duties may be assigned by the school Principal.

Responsibilities

  • Enacting anti-racist instructional practices that ensure students own the learning
  • Instructing students daily in small group settings to supplement and enhance traditional in-class mathematics instruction
  • Preparing tutoring plans in accordance with a set program curriculum as dictated by the individual needs of each student
  • Coordinating with the campus-level Tutor Coordinator, classroom teachers, and school administration to maximize student achievement
  • Providing embedded interventions for students needing additional support, time, or scaffolds
  • Working closely with a co-taught team of two to three additional educators in the classroom
  • Engaging with families as partners in the learning around successes, challenges, and problem-solving on behalf of our scholars
  • Other duties as determined by the school Principal

Requirements

  • Experience teaching Math at the middle and/or high school level preferred
  • Appropriate content/program area educator license (Mathematics) and grade level licensure from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education preferred
  • Experience as an active anti-racist or advocate for equity preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Minimum of an Associate's Degree required from an accredited college or university. Bachelor's degree preferred.
