The primary function of this position is to provide appropriate learning experiences and educational opportunities for each student assigned to the class. The teacher will be responsible for delivering instruction, assessing student progress, and managing the learning environment effectively. This role requires effective communication with all stakeholders, especially in a virtual platform, and participation in professional learning to enhance online instruction capabilities.

  • Provides instruction at an appropriate instructional level.
  • Develops content for lessons.
  • Builds for transfer of knowledge.
  • Promotes student engagement and monitors progress.
  • Responds to both adequate and inadequate student progress.
  • Supports students in their learning.
  • Uses time efficiently and maintains an effective physical setting for instruction.
  • Maintains appropriate student behavior in the classroom.
  • Communicates effectively with stakeholders in written and oral form.
  • Uses various programs and software applications for instructional and administrative tasks.
  • Participates in professional learning for virtual teaching endorsement.
  • Articulates deadlines, schedules, and procedures to students and parents.
  • Follows professional practices consistent with school and district policies.
  • Interacts professionally with students and parents.
  • Facilitates home-school communication.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student records.
  • Works cooperatively with school administrators and colleagues.
  • Complies with school, district, and state regulations.
  • Conducts assigned classes punctually and enforces student conduct regulations.
  • Maintains accurate records and files reports promptly.
  • Attends faculty meetings and participates in assigned activities.
  • Models correct use of language and demonstrates knowledge of content.
  • Implements designated curriculum and maintains lesson plans.
  • Assigns reasonable tasks and homework to students.
  • Supervises students in out-of-class settings.
  • Plans and coordinates assignments for paraprofessionals and volunteers.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate in the assigned teaching field (English 6-12).
  • Preferred: Advanced degree(s).
