We're hiring a Switchboard Operator Lead to Live. Work. Explore. at the south rim of the Grand Canyon!

  • Manage and maintain Xanterra South Rim telephone switchboard and radio communication operations, including staffing, training and scheduling, and all other telecom operations and functions.
  • Supervise staff to ensure proper guest service is provided for all calls/radio communication by providing appropriate training on telephone and radio communications in a switchboard setting.
  • Ensure appropriate coverage is provided by maintaining appropriate staffing levels and proper scheduling.
  • Responsible for communicating any issues with fire alarm panels to Risk Management, Fire Alarm Tech, and Fire & Security.
  • Periodically reviews the Switchboard Standard Operating Procedures and recommend updates.
  • Review and control all departmental costs that are controllable at the Switchboard Supervisor's level.
  • Adhere to all safety, risk management and environmental policies and procedures in performing duties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Telephone and/or PBX and computer literacy knowledge and experience required.
  • Experience with radio dispatching helpful.
  • Proven record of positive guest service training.
  • Excellent written and especially oral communication skills required.
  • Ability to interact effectively with all Xanterra South Rim departments including Rooms, Fire & Security, Risk Management and Information Technology departments and National Park Service Dispatch.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to select, train and manage a small staff of switchboard operators working in close quarters.
  • Ability to work switchboard shifts as necessary.
