As a PRN PBX Operator at TriStar Skyline Medical Center, you will play a crucial role in ensuring effective communication within the hospital. Your primary responsibility will be to operate the hospital switchboard and pager system, directing all incoming calls to the appropriate parties in a timely and professional manner. You will also be responsible for implementing emergency plans according to hospital policy, which is vital for maintaining safety and efficiency in a healthcare environment. This position requires flexibility in scheduling, as you may be needed for day, swing, or third shifts, particularly to cover for last-minute call outs or PTO. While day shift opportunities are limited, you may occasionally be called upon to fill these shifts as needed. In addition to handling calls, you will coordinate with hospital units and staff during visitation times, providing excellent customer service to patients, families, and other stakeholders. You will assist customers during phone calls and visitation, ensuring that their needs are met promptly. Your role will also involve coordinating business office tasks, such as managing meal tickets, overseeing safe entries and removals, distributing mail, and managing vehicle sign-ins and outs. To prepare for this role, you will undergo a two-week training period, which will help you become familiar with PBX duties and the hospital's operations. This training period may offer some scheduling flexibility, although consecutive training days are preferred for better retention of information.
