Serves as the primary contact person at the Hospital Switchboard which functions as the Public Information Control Center for the Medical Center on a 24-hour basis. This position involves directory assistance; overhead and digital paging; overhead public address announcements including codes; screening for patient information; identifying and obtaining resource personnel for various departments; training new staff. Responsible for superior customer service in providing information to callers and directing calls to the appropriate personnel. This involves processing internal and external calls through an integrated computer telephone system, initiating overhead paging, activating pagers, providing patient information, and facilitating the communication of emergency situations.
