The position involves operating a switchboard console to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office telephone calls, performing various communication functions, and other duties such as managing a pocket pager system and special needs phones. Operators must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people and different age groups, remain patient and calm during crisis situations, and make quick decisions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least one year of applicable experience.
• Two years previous customer service experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates switchboard console to relay incoming, outgoing, and inter-office telephone calls.
• Performs various communication functions including managing pocket pager systems and special needs phones.
• Monitors various security and alarm panels.
• Coordinates and launches all emergency calls and codes to the appropriate teams.
• Informs appropriate authorities of malfunctioning equipment.
• May be required to monitor, sort, and deliver incoming mail.
• Communicates effectively with all age groups when answering the switchboard.
