About The Position

Switch Technicians operate and troubleshoot various switches at the Aegis and SSDS facilities. Switch technicians will also be required to perform a daily switch test to make sure that all switches are operational for customer use. These switches consist of NTDS A, B, D, and E interfaces, that reside on Data Terminal Switch (DTS), XCOM, Purvis, and NOSC. Our Fiber and CAT-5/CAT-6 interfaces reside on APCON, NetScout and Curtiss Wright switches. These are controlled via our Next Generation Switch Controller (NGSC). Our job is to troubleshoot, repair, and install new switches, and maintain a working network to support testing events at SCSC. Trouble shooting various switch paths for system interfaces such as bulleting/hard wiring an interface to remove the switch from the cable path to determine where the problem lies with the site equipment or the site switching. We support SCSC events working on two shifts and sometimes weekends, with a quarterly switch weekend for maintenance and repair. The selected candidate will perform comprehensive equipment and system level trouble shooting. Successful candidates will provide system/equipment configuration and operational support for all deployed baseline AEGIS and SSDS variants.
