At IMI, you’ll find a supportive, collaborative and inclusive environment where you can truly thrive. Role Overview Set-up, operate, troubleshoot, and maintain Swiss CNC turning centers. Produce production parts to required tolerances and complete machine set-ups to the established and documented average set-up time on all resources in the turning department. Provide troubleshooting and set-up assistance to other team members. Apply knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, and machining procedures.

Requirements

  • 5+ years experience with setting up and operating 2-5 axis CNC Swiss Turning machines and bar feeders is required.
  • Sufficient reading and writing ability to follow work instructions and prepare production reports.
  • Sufficient visual acuity (corrected) to read instructions, operate machines, and visually inspect parts produced.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity to operate machines properly.
  • Physical ability to do work requiring frequent stooping and bending.
  • Physical strength sufficient to lift and carry 30 pounds.
  • Mathematical knowledge including addition, subtraction, and multiplication.
  • Knowledge and ability to use inspection equipment such as calipers, dial indicators, micrometers, thread gages, and video inspection systems.
  • Advanced blueprint comprehension.
  • Ability to identify and understand common tooling used when performing machining operations.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Stars, Fanuc controls, LNS bar feeders, and IEMCA bar feeders are a plus.
  • College/trade school machining diploma desired.

Responsibilities

  • Follow directions and produce required quantity of parts on the job traveler.
  • Set-up and produce parts within required tolerances.
  • Troubleshoot and correct alarms and non-conforming measurements.
  • Provide troubleshooting and set-up assistance.
  • Pull and return tools per job instructions.
  • Follow quality assurance instructions, measure and record inspections, and process non-conformances that are discovered.
  • Responsible for keeping work area in neat condition and following 5S.
  • Follow all safety rules regarding machine operations and proper guarding.
  • Perform secondary operations when time is allowed between machine runs.
  • Maintain various reports, such as job travelers, inspections, downtime, and job follow-up.
  • Follow all policies and procedures per the Policy Manual, Quality Management System, ISO 9001, Quality Manual, Standard Operating Procedures, and Safety Program.
  • Assist with machine maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist with training of equipment and work procedures for new employees, and continuous training for all other turning employees.
  • Support Shop with improvement activities and projects.
  • Perform other Shop duties as assigned.
