Position Overview As a Swiss Set-Up Machinist , you will be responsible for setting up and optimizing Swiss-style CNC lathes to produce small, high-precision components. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on tight tolerances, intricate part geometry, and maintaining consistency in high-volume production environments.
Requirements
- 2–5+ years Swiss machining experience
- Strong understanding of tight-tolerance machining and small-diameter parts
- Experience with Swiss machines (Tsugami or other)
- Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T
- Skilled in precision measurement tools (micrometers, optical comparators, etc.)
- Familiarity with bar feeders and high-volume production
- Knowledge of exotic materials (titanium, stainless, medical alloys preferred)
- High attention to detail and consistency
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate Swiss-style CNC lathes for small, high-precision parts
- Install guide bushings, collets, and specialized tooling
- Set tool offsets and align tooling for tight-tolerance work
- Load and optimize Swiss-type CNC programs
- Perform first article inspections and maintain tight tolerances (often ±0.0002")
- Monitor tool wear and make frequent micro-adjustments
- Handle bar feeders and support high-volume production runs
- Troubleshoot issues like chatter, deflection, and tool breakage
- Maintain machine and ensure consistent production quality
