As a Swiss CNC Setup Technician at Reader Precision Solutions, you will join an award-winning company on a mission to supply its clients with the industry’s leading precision parts and components. The ideal candidate for this role will have a minimum of three years of experience as a Swiss CNC setup machinist and will possess advanced troubleshooting skills, proficient CNC programming capabilities, and a passion for driving continuous improvement initiatives. Shifts Available - Monday - Friday: 1st Shift: 6:30AM - 3:00PM 2nd Shift: 2:45PM - 11:15PM

  • Set up and operate one or more Swiss CNC machines to perform a series of machining operations such as turning, drilling, boring, threading and milling according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Help to develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs using advanced software tools, ensuring efficient machining processes and adherence to quality standards.
  • Conduct advanced troubleshooting with CNC machines, including mechanical, electrical, and programming problems, to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of machine setup, tooling changes, production runs, and quality inspection results to ensure traceability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by proposing and implementing innovative solutions to enhance productivity, efficiency, and quality in machining processes.
  • Set up and load specified bar stock into automatic bar feeders, change follower tip, guides, and fingers.
  • Monitor machine operation and verify conformance of work piece to specifications using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, CMM, OASIS, Keyence & functional gauges)
  • Make machine and tool adjustments as needed to maintain part conformance.
  • Adjust part dimensions with offsets, change inserts, tool centering, adjust/replace collets and guide bushings.
  • Consistently check parts for quality control; ensure non-conforming parts are controlled.
  • Ensure the router, scheduling board, blueprint, inspection instructions, are gauging box are fully completed for each job run and all inspection requirements are followed; ensure all tooling is accounted for.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of ISO QMS work instructions.
  • Consistently clean and maintain machines and related equipment to ensure optimal condition.
  • Work closely with engineering, production, and quality assurance teams to resolve technical issues, improve processes, and achieve production targets.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a Swiss CNC setup machinist in a machining/manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Proficient in setting up and operating Swiss CNC machines, with advanced troubleshooting abilities and strong CNC programming skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex machining problems and develop effective solutions to improve productivity and quality.

  • Operational knowledge and ability to use quality inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, comparator, surface tester, indicators, pin & thread gauges, OASIS, Keyence, CMM, etc.)
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics (arithmetic & geometry) is required.
  • Proficient computer skills with the ability to demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in completing basic data entry within the ERP manufacturing system.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Knowledge of basic metalworking theory (cutting, tooling, material properties, machine tools, cutting fluids and coolants)
  • Vision corrected to 20/20
  • Ability to continuously lift 10 lbs., frequently lift up to 25 lbs., occasionally lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend and stoop to pick up product.
  • Ability to stretch and reach.
  • Ability to stand/walk for entire shift.
  • Frequently required to use repetitive hand motions and fine motor skills.
  • Additional technical training or certifications in CNC machining and programming preferred.
