Swing Shift Millworker - Lamination Panel Cell Department
About The Position
Function: This position fulfills all the duties of a warehouse worker/mill worker including, but not limited to, driving forklift, machine feeder and off bearer, machine operations with the responsibility of ensuring accuracy of board cuts and sanding. This position will be trained on Day Shift, then moved to Swing-Shift upon full training. Millworker Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Includes the following. Sander off‑bearer: ‑‑Off‑bears behind sander ‑‑Racks/stacks lumber ‑‑Identifies belt problems on lumber surface ‑‑Changes sander belt by instruction of planer operator ‑‑Keeps area behind sander clean ‑‑Learn the complete operation of the sander and millwork process Tally Lumber: ‑‑Accurate use of tally sticks for piece tally ‑‑Fills out tally cards, customer work orders ‑‑Knowledge of board foot calculations ‑‑During tally ‑ may discount for splits Rip saw off‑bearer: ‑‑Off‑bears behind saw ‑‑Racks/stacks lumber ‑‑Identifies dimension problems on lumber ‑‑Changes arbor and shoes by instruction of saw operator ‑‑Assist with all tallies after production ‑‑Keeps area behind saw clean ‑‑Learn the complete operation of the Rip Saw and Millwork process Chop Saw/Opti Chop S-90 and S-200 ‑‑Safety must be of highest concern when operating the --chop saw. Know what to do in case of emergency before operating ‑‑Set‑up and chop various lengths ‑‑Identify dimensional problems with lumber ‑‑Label and tally lumber correctly ‑‑Keeps area around saw clean Empty dust collection bins, cans ‑‑Proper safety is practiced, goggles, dust mask ‑‑Empties dust collector into truck ‑‑Uses horn to loosen up dust in dust collector Laminate panels using the Taylor Clamp rack --Load and unload glued panels from the glue racks --Adjust pressures based on specie --Align Staves to minimize bow and cupping of panels General Skills ‑‑Proper operation of hand banding machine banding chopper machine ‑‑Knowledge of forklift operation ‑‑Knowledge of complete order process ‑‑Stacks lumber according to standard unit width and proper sticker placement ‑‑Practices the proper safety techniques required on the job ‑‑Limited operation skills of millwork machines Other Duties: as assigned
Requirements
- Knowledge of all equipment, its use, and ability to operate it.
- Ability to use the telephone.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide; calculate linear, board, and square footage.
- Ability to read and comprehend detailed instructions, to write detailed correspondence, and to communicate information to customers and employees in English.
- Ability to learn and use software computer applications, to include Microsoft Office Suite and Activant.
