About The Position

Sanitary Disposal, a Waste Connections Company, is seeking a safety-conscious Swing/Float Driver to join their team in Hermiston, Oregon. This position provides coverage for multiple routes and truck types, including Rear Load, Front Load, and Automated Side Load garbage trucks. Swing Drivers fill in for vacations, sick days, and operational needs, requiring flexibility, strong safety awareness, and the ability to adapt quickly to different routes and equipment. Requirements

  • Valid CDL A or B with air brakes endorsement (minimum requirement).
  • Valid Medical Card.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Minimum 2 years of directly related driving or equipment operation experience.
  • Basic knowledge of truck components to complete inspections and identify maintenance needs.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate commercial garbage trucks on assigned routes.
  • Read and follow route tablets to service all customers scheduled or assigned by dispatch.
  • Use hydraulic hand controls from the cab to lift, load, and empty refuse containers.
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections, including checking fluids, tires, and safety equipment.
  • Complete pre- and post-trip inspections in compliance with DOT and company standards.
  • Load and unload materials as needed, sometimes without assistance.
  • Dispose of collected waste at designated facilities.
  • Maintain courteous and professional interactions with customers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support daily operations.
  • Work Monday–Friday with occasional Saturdays; typical workweek is 45–50 hours.
