About The Position

The purpose of this position is to be skilled on a variety of jobs on the line, in the department or facility in order to assist the supervisor when needed. This role involves accomplishing various jobs correctly and efficiently, being flexible to learn new positions and duties, and possessing good communication skills to help orientate new employees. The Swing Crew member adapts quickly to new positions and situations across all areas, performing assigned jobs at established production levels. They participate as a member of the Team, contributing to ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies, and coordinating work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members. The role also involves fostering strong cohesiveness within the team, identifying and resolving issues with team leaders, and actively seeking ways to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization. The individual must be familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies), understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with these systems, and consider the impact of individual actions on the systems, communicating concerns and improvement ideas. Other duties may be performed as necessary in support of business objectives, as this description is intended to guide activities and not limit creativity or describe all required work.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work in cool, wet, noisy environments with temperature extremes, on feet for entire feet
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs to shoulder height, push or pull 1000 lbs
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a company issued pallet jack and forklift license
  • Must have a good command of the English language, both written and spoken
  • Must be able to read, write and perform basic math
  • Must have the ability to make good decisions and communicate effectively with others and leadership team

  • Preference for poultry or food processing organization
  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Attends appropriate team meetings
  • Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization
  • Is familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies)
  • Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives
