About The Position
Haverford College invites applications for a full-time Swing Cook position within our Food Service department. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about food preparation and are eager to contribute to a vibrant dining environment. The Swing Cook will assist the cooks in food preparation and may be assigned to act as the lead cook during specified meal periods. This position requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness while working in a fast-paced kitchen environment. The Swing Cook will be responsible for preparing food for future meals using computer-generated production sheets and recipes. This includes tasks such as cutting vegetables, panning up food, cooking off items, and ensuring that all prepared food is properly labeled and dated. The role also involves pulling frozen food from the freezer according to a pull list generated by the cook or manager, keeping prep and storage areas clean and organized, and accurately recording on production sheets what prep has been completed and its location. Additional prep work may be assigned as needed, making flexibility and teamwork essential qualities for success in this role. This position is located in the Dining Center, where the Swing Cook will work closely with the Executive Chef and other kitchen staff to deliver high-quality meals to our community.
