About The Position

Supervise up to 22 pool employees Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of pool facilities Manage and document in-service training for lifeguards Oversee daily accounting and ensure accurate cash reports Monitor concessions, including inventory and cash balancing Complete required documentation Assist with public and private pool parties Schedule shifts for seasonal employees Work varied shifts between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM Ensure patron safety through proactive lifeguarding and consistent enforcement of pool rules for both patrons and staff. Assist Parks and Recreation staff with organization of public and private pool parties Provide excellent customer service and set a positive example for employees in public interactions and facility care. Respond appropriately to emergencies and perform required emergency procedures. Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, and review staff duties while enforcing policies outlined in the employee handbook. Monitor employee hours and report concerns to the Aquatic Supervisor. Track and balance daily concession inventory and cash reports. Document any infractions, incidents, or counseling sessions involving staff and patrons. Ensure staff complete daily cleaning duties. Verify that all cash reports submitted by the Assistant Manager are accurate and complete. Conduct daily in-service training to ensure staff maintain required monthly training hours. Perform small mechanical repairs as directed by Park Maintenance or the Aquatic Supervisor Communicate effectively with fellow supervisors about issues that arise during shifts. Submit creative ideas for marketing strategies to promote public attendance. Assist Parks and Recreation with the promotion of special programs. Perform other duties as assigned by the Aquatic Supervisor or Full Time Pool Manager. Work during special events for Parks and Recreation outside of the Pool.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in a supervisory role or as an Assistant Pool Manager is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of pool maintenance and mechanical operations is beneficial; training is available for the right candidate.
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be at least 18 years old; preference is given to applicants aged 21 and older.
  • Successful completion of American Red Cross Training.
  • Availability to work shifts between 9:00 AM and 9:00 PM from March through August.
  • Reliable transportation to work sites.
  • No vacation or leave of absence permitted without prior approval and shift coverage.
  • Willingness to work at Thompson Park and Warford Activity Center Pools.
  • Ability to lift approximately 20 – 30 pounds
  • Successful completion of the following skills pre-test: 150-yard swim 2-minute water tread (without hands) Retrieve a 10-pound brick from 7 feet of water
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage employees effectively.
  • Basic understanding of pool maintenance and mechanical operations.
  • Ability to interpret, explain, and enforce pool policies and procedures for employees and the public.
  • Completion of an American Red Cross Certification class (provided by the department).

  • At least 1 year of experience working in a similar position with public interaction is preferred.
