About The Position

The Swim Team Supervisor provides leadership for all swim coaches. They serve as the primary point of contact, ensuring best practices in swim coaching, and maintaining a safe and engaging environment for swimmers, parents, and coaches at the Community Center.

Requirements

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard certification required.
  • Strong swimming skills and experience in swim coaching, swim instruction, and working with children required.
  • Must be in the water and sun for extended periods.
  • Must be able to hold children (ages 3-12) in the water, stand in the water, swim 300 yards continuously (breaststroke or freestyle), and tread water for two minutes without using arms.
  • Must be able to perform all American Red Cross Lifeguard rescue skills, including diving up to 12 feet, treading water for extended periods, CPR, rescue breathing, in-water spinal backboarding, and using an AED.
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds occasionally and 15-20 pounds frequently.
  • DOJ background clearance required.
  • Must adhere to and model PCC’s Safe Church policies.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience guiding and motivating swim coaches.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to clearly convey expectations and collaborate effectively with staff, swimmers, and families.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities, schedules, and program logistics.
  • Knowledgeable in swim coaching best practices, technique, and age-appropriate training methods.
  • Calm and attentive during emergency situations, with the ability to follow protocols efficiently.
  • Professional and positive demeanor, fostering an inclusive and supportive team culture.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of prior experience working at Peninsula Community Center is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support the swim coach team by providing a leadership presence and by addressing on-deck issues, member concerns, and facility needs - escalating to aquatics management when required
  • Be knowledgeable of and ready to assist in any emergency by following the facility’s Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
  • Help coaches with writing swim sets, running events, and providing feedback to swimmers and families.
  • Monitor and track swimmer progress, ensuring coaching strategies align with program goals.
  • Communicate scheduling changes early, secure appropriate substitute coverage when unable to work a scheduled shift and assist with coverage when available.
  • Coordinate coverage for absent staff, including arranging substitutes and adjusting schedules as needed.
  • Other duties as they pertain to and aid in supporting the ministry's principal objectives.
