About The Position

The Swim Team Head Coach will be responsible for the management and on-site supervision of the Gators Swim Team Program. The Head Coach is responsible for coaching one age group and overseeing all others. This person must be an effective communicator and display a positive public image. The Swim Team Head Coach is responsible to the Aquatics Coordinator and the Recreation Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Have prior experience in coaching semi-competitive aquatic programs.
  • CPR/AED certified.

Responsibilities

  • Strives for a positive experience for all swim team participants and their parents.
  • Supervises Coaches and other personnel scheduled to work assigned programs, assuring compliance with accepted standards of professional conduct and Park District policies and procedures.
  • Schedules Coaches and other personnel according to registration levels and needs of individual participants.
  • Assists with recruiting, hiring and training of Coaches
  • Plans and implements pre-season coaches’ meetings.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of registration, attendance, progress, performance and injuries to participants and staff and unusual incidents.
  • Attends competitive meets, runs parents’ meetings, coaches’ meetings and skill training, participates in skill and procedure reviews.
  • Seeks to develop competitive swimming skills, knowledge and values through practices, clinics and other team activities.
  • Assures that assigned facilities are setup according to Aquatic Department standards for the activities scheduled during assigned programs.
  • Assures that payroll records for assigned staff are complete and accurate
  • Prevents accidents by eliminating hazards and hazardous behavior from the facility during assigned programs.
  • Assures that pool is secure from outside entry unless relieved by another qualified aquatic department employee or full-time Park District employee.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with other Park District staff.
  • Assures Park District policies are enforced with tact and flexibility.
  • Communicate concerns through proper channels in a positive manner.
  • Exercises appropriate care in the use of Park District equipment.
  • Exhibits a positive public image through adherence to uniform policies.
  • Remains up to date on all Park District policies.
  • Attends Northern IL Swim Conference meetings.
