To learn more about GSCY, visit our website: http://gscymca.org Position Summary : The Head Swim Coach is responsible for the day to day management of assigned age-group(s). The head coach is responsible for the overall planning and goal setting for this group while role modeling good sportsmanship and YMCA core values.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 16.
• Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen.
• Current YMCA or ARC Lifeguard or equivalent.
• Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
• Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards.

Responsibilities

• Coach and lead practices based on the needs of the age group and individual swimmers.
• Guides athletes in their assigned age-group with short and long term goal setting.
• Create swim meet entries for athletes in assigned group.
• Attend all swim meets that age-group is participating in. If unable to attend, arrange appropriate coaching and communicate to all necessary parties.
• Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports as required.
• Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies and guidelines for the pool and aquatic area. Maintains accurate records as required by the YMCA and/or the state Health Department code.
• Attends all staff meetings
