LANDFALL LAZERS HEAD SWIM TEAM COACH-SEASONAL
About The Position
We are seeking a friendly, experienced Swim Coach to join our club. We provide comprehensive swim instruction to swimmers of all levels, from first-time swimmers to competitive event swimmers. As a part of our instructor team, you will teach swimmers with a wide range of skills, experience, and circumstances. You will help swimmers define and achieve their swimming goals, help athletes refine their strokes, cut times, and promote an inclusive atmosphere in which everyone feels welcome. You would also be the head coach and liaison for our club swim team: The Landfall Lazers. Our ideal candidate has prior experience as a swim coach, prior experience as a lifeguard is a plus, experience with water sports and aquatics, and a personable, friendly demeanor.
Requirements
- Valid Lifeguard certification and CPR and First Aid certification
- Strong background in swimming and physical education
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Motivated, friendly personality
- Ability to work flexible hours; including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience as a swim coach
- Prior experience as a lifeguard is a plus
- Experience with water sports and aquatics
- Personable, friendly demeanor
- WSSI certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Reports to the Pool Manager
- Serve as head coach and liaison of CCL swim team
- Teach basic lessons to new swimmers as well as master classes
- Help athletes and experienced swimmers refine their skills
- Provide leadership and guidance to ensure a safe and positive environment for pool patrons and staff
- Performs other tasks as required by supervisor
- Enforce pool safety rules and properly document any incidents
- Monitor aquatics facility and guests, and assure compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedure; ensure facilities are maintained in a clean and safe condition
- Must be available to coach morning and evening practices Monday-Thursday, and morning only practices on Fridays during the summer
- Attends all Landfall Lazers scheduled meets and events with team-5 swim meets plus a relay meet and the Championship Meet at the end of the season
- Organizes all aspects of swim meets including, but not limited to, scheduling individual race participants, recording and posting start times and distributing race ribbons
- Monitor pool activities during swim meets and practices; evaluate individual and team performance, explain techniques and assist with skills improvement
- Attends and participates in the club’s coaches’ meetings
- Maintains swim team and event equipment
- Organizes swim meet volunteers
