Responsible for supervising pool staff on duty along with the daily running of the facility including but not limited to: water tests, safety and first aid, and frequent pool walk-throughs/monitoring. Starting hourly rate is $18.00 per hour General Information for all Pool positions The Pool season is from May – August 2026 Hours vary between 8:00am and 9:00pm depending upon programs and events. Shifts may vary. Candidates will be interviewed and may be selected for a pool position based upon candidates’ qualifications. The pool environment is an outdoor setting. Staff will be exposed to weather conditions, including cold, rain, and extreme heat. Inclement weather is monitored daily and safety precautions taken when necessary. Interviews will take place in March. If you are away at school, please indicate on your application the dates of your winter and/or spring break to assist us in scheduling interviews Pool staff training dates will be held in May prior to the pool opening; dates will be reviewed during the interview process. Handles inquiries pertaining to pool operations, programs and services as a representative of PPD Recreation in a timely manner. Maintains knowledge of the function and operation of all safety, rescue, and first aid equipment at the pool. Accepts direct responsibility for first aid procedures rendered while on duty. Coordinates and manages swim lesson programs and in-service trainings/meetings as deemed necessary by Recreation Supervisor. Cooperative teamwork necessary to ensure success of programs. Registers patrons for swim lesson programs; assigns to appropriate teacher based upon age/skills identified at time of registration. Evaluates swim lesson programs for success based upon content, staff performance, participant evaluation and instructor comment. Works with other aquatic managers and Recreation Supervisor to determine viability of programs offered and develop new programs to meet the needs of the community. Accountable for record keeping of all safety compliance and incident reporting procedures as well as other operational information in compliance with park district expectations. Assists in evaluation and disciplinary process for all pool staff. Works varying schedules and hours as required fulfilling the duties of the position, including weekend, evening, and holiday hours. Adheres to the purchasing process for departmental supplies, services and equipment in accordance with District purchasing policy. Performs all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Park District’s safety program. Performs any additional related tasks as required.
