About The Position

Deliver high quality recreation services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the District’s safety and administrative policies and procedures. This position is well suited for someone with a pleasant personality and an enthusiastic attitude.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or in process.
  • Minimum 15 years of age.
  • Work record that shows reliability, initiative, tact, organizational skills and productivity.
  • Must have knowledge of swimming skills along with the ability to communicate instructions in a professional and enthusiastic manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and work well with the public and other staff.
  • Ability to establish a positive rapport by using tact and discretion with participants, parents, and staff.
  • Display a high degree of emotional maturity while keeping difficult situations in proper perspective.
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to process information accurately, and use independent judgment when needed.
  • Must have or complete CPR/AED/First Aid Certification and Mandated Reporter certification prior to starting work and within 30 days of hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with children preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate ability to work independently or with limited direction; anticipate needs for successful learn to swim program.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and attitude while performing duties, and while on park district premises.
  • Abide by uniform standards while on duty.
  • Maintain and promote excellent customer service relations with patrons, staff and affiliates.
  • Secure a substitute for any scheduled hours that cannot be worked.
  • Properly utilize all swim lesson equipment and supplies.
  • Create and effectively implement lesson plans appropriate to program level, and participant’s abilities.
  • Track and provide feedback for learn to swim program participant’s progress each session.
  • Assist in daily cleaning of assigned areas. Help maintain overall cleanliness of facility.
  • Continue education by attending staff meetings and trainings.
  • Recognize, report, and respond to any unsafe conditions and execute effective emergency action plans.
  • Maintain and carry out all State, City and County Health Departments, professional certifications, and Park District rules and regulations pertaining to related area.
