About The Position

The Swim Instructor at In-Shape Family Fitness is responsible for delivering swimming and water safety instruction to members of all ages. This part-time role involves planning and conducting age-appropriate lessons while ensuring a safe and engaging environment for participants. The ideal candidate should possess strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a passion for teaching swimming.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Current lifeguard certification or ability to pass within 60 days of hire.
• Current CPR certification or ability to pass within 60 days of hire.
• Availability to work mornings, evenings, and weekends based on swim class schedules.
• Previous experience is helpful but not required.
• Flexible and positive attitude in meeting member expectations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints.
• Ability to follow written instructions and complete basic forms.
• Successful completion of a basic swim assessment is required.
• Ability to swim 100 meters of freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke, and butterfly.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.
• High regard for safety.
• Attendance at team meetings and trainings as required.
• Trustline registration is required, which In-Shape will facilitate.

Responsibilities

• Teach swim classes to the standards set by In-Shape.
• Maintain a safe environment by implementing safety policies and procedures.
• Engage with swim participants of all ages.
• Communicate effectively with participant parents.
• Complete program session trackers and distribute them to participants/parents.
• Enforce safety standards and report potential hazards.
• Monitor and report equipment issues.
• Enforce pool rules and program standards.
• Advise management on discipline or ejection of members from the pool facility.
• Complete all required records and reports, including Member Incident Reports.
• Help maintain cleanliness of the pool deck and facility.
• May be required to lifeguard and teach private/group swim lessons.
• Assist in building a community of members through consistent member experience.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
