About The Position

As a Swim Instructor at the YMCA, you will play a vital role in our mission to strengthen communities. You will assist in the instruction of swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, prepare lesson plans, and support members and program participants in achieving their goals. Your responsibilities will include developing positive relationships with volunteers, members, and colleagues, conveying information on aquatics safety, and maintaining records as required. You will also participate in special events to promote programs and fundraising activities, all while embodying our core values of being welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined.

Requirements

• Exceptional organizational and leadership skills preferred.
• Must be at least 15 years old.
• Desire and demeanor to work well with children.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the instruction of swimming lessons according to YMCA guidelines.
• Prepare lesson plans and support members in achieving their goals.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members, and colleagues.
• Convey information on aquatics safety, maintenance, programs, and schedules.
• Refer program participants and families to other programs.
• Maintain records such as attendance and progress reports.
• Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Participate in special events to promote programs and fundraising activities.
