About The Position

Under the supervision of the Aquatic Director and Aquatics Program Manager, a swim instructor will teach group lessons to students aged 2-13 and follow Samena’s swim curriculum. Swim instructors will use their swimming knowledge, along with the knowledge given to them during instructor training to ensure a fun and safe swimming environment for all students. Available Shifts: 4-7pm Mondays and Wednesdays 4-7pm Tuesdays 4-7pm Thursdays 10am-12pm Saturdays 9:30-10am Saturdays (Parent/Tot Instructor) The above position description is not intended to describe in detail the multitude of tasks that may be assigned but rather to give the incumbent a general sense of the responsibilities and expectations of his/her position. As the nature of the business/organizational demands change, so, too, may the essential functions of this position. Requirements

  • Current American Red Cross Certifications (or equivalent)
  • CPR for the Professional Rescuer
  • First Aid
  • Strong communication skills
  • Previous Swimming Experience (no swim lesson experience required; we provide paid training)
  • Excellent Customer service skills
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner
  • Knowledge and skill in the application of CPR & First Aid
  • Knowledge of effective safety standards and precautions related to swimming
  • Ability to remain calm in any emergency situation
  • Ability to work a regular, consistent schedule
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to receive direction and to follow oral and written instructions

Responsibilities

  • Teach swim lessons to the standard taught in instructor training
  • Caution swimmers regarding unsafe practices and safety hazards in a friendly and helpful manner
  • Follow emergency action plan and procedures established in the event of an emergency
  • Maintain order in the pool and adjoining areas
  • Provide excellent customer service to all members and guests using the facility
  • Ensure safe, quality swim lessons for all assigned students
  • Write quality reports cards for swim lesson students
  • Other duties as assigned
