About The Position

Established in 1926, Camp Tanager provides day and overnight camp programs to over 1,000 campers each summer. Campers from all backgrounds are welcome to attend our programs designed for fun, fitness, friendship and learning. Camp Tanager was voted Coolest Camp in Iowa in 2016 by The Philadelphia Inquirer for our unique and expansive program offerings. Why Camp Tanager? We are a 34 acre purpose-built campsite with wooded areas, trails and a creek to explore. Age appropriate STEAM programs are incorporated into our weekly camp activity schedule. Swimming, snorkeling and water aerobics are a few ways our campers enjoy the pool on a daily basis. Fun activities include archery, basketball, soccer, gaga ball, volleyball, group games, arts, crafts and more! As a member of the American Camp association, Camp Tanager follows strict rules and regulations put in place to help protect campers and provide a safe environment for all participants. Weekly payroll. 2026 Camp Dates are June 1st – August 7th. Job Details Swim Lessons Instructors provide direct, in-water instruction and supervision for participants in the Camp Tanager summer lessons program. Instructors focus on water safety, skill development, positive encouragement, and maintaining a welcoming and inclusive environment for swimmers and families. this role emphasizes professionalism, teamwork, and consistent safety standards both on deck and in the water. QualificationsAcceptable Experience/Training

Requirements

  • At least six month of previous swim instruction, swim coaching, or aquatic experience
  • Must be 15 years of age
  • Current Lifeguard certification required which includes CPR/AED/First Aid
