About The Position

Our swimmers are diving into great lessons and our employees are diving into great opportunities! We're now hiring year-round, part-time instructors (no seasonal positions available) with leadership opportunities available within your first 3-6 months. Yes, you can grow with Goldfish even if this is your after school or second job to help your future career! A day in the life as a swim instructor: You will be responsible for the success of swim lessons by reviewing your class schedule and preparing your class materials and lesson themes. You'll teach 4 swimmers per class by going through our well-established and proven curriculum of water safety, swim and swimplay skills (6 swimmers in our infant, parent-and-me style lessons). After each 30 minute lesson, you communicate progress (and celebrate the accomplishments!) with parents and caregivers.

Requirements

• Ability to swim; must pass a basic swim test (50 yards) to complete training & certifications.
• Must commit to missing no more than one class every 6 weeks (80-90% attendance).
• Prepare own substitute teacher when unable to teach, leaving notes for the substitute.
• Ability to be in the water for 4 hours at a time; this is an in-water position in a chlorinated pool.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in child care, camp counseling, or teaching.
• Background in athletics, art, theater, or customer service.

Responsibilities

• Review class schedule and prepare class materials and lesson themes.
• Teach swim lessons to 4 swimmers per class, following the established curriculum.
• Communicate progress and celebrate accomplishments with parents and caregivers after each lesson.
