About The Position
The position involves instructing swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly, and supporting members and program participants in achieving their goals. The instructor will develop and maintain positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization. They will help participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA, encouraging parent or caregiver involvement. The instructor will also convey information on aquatics programs and schedules, referring program participants and families to other programs as appropriate. Maintaining records such as attendance and progress reports is required, along with following all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. The instructor will complete incident and accident reports as necessary, organize and put away needed class equipment, and report damaged equipment. Additionally, the instructor will train and supervise class aides as assigned.
