About The Position
The position involves instructing swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, preparing lesson plans, and supporting members and program participants in achieving their goals. The instructor is responsible for developing and maintaining positive relationships with volunteers, members, program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization. This includes helping participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA, as well as encouraging parent or caregiver involvement. The instructor will also convey information on aquatics programs and schedules, referring program participants and families to other programs as appropriate. Additionally, the role requires maintaining records such as attendance and progress reports, following all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures, and completing incident and accident reports as necessary. The instructor will organize and put away needed class equipment and report any damaged equipment. Training and supervising class aides may also be part of the responsibilities assigned.
