About The Position
The YMCA is seeking a Swim Instructor who will be responsible for instructing swimming lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines. The instructor will prepare lesson plans and support members and program participants in achieving their swimming goals. This role involves developing and maintaining positive relationships with volunteers, members, program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization. The instructor will help participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA, encouraging parent or caregiver involvement. Additionally, the instructor will convey information on aquatics programs and schedules, referring program participants and families to other programs as appropriate. Maintaining records such as attendance and progress reports is also a key responsibility. The instructor must follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures, and complete incident and accident reports as necessary. Organizing and putting away needed class equipment and reporting damaged equipment are also part of the job. The instructor will also train and supervise class aides as assigned.
