About The Position

Join our team and help children become safer in and around the water, while having fun! We’re looking for an energetic & responsible Swim Instructor / Lifeguard that has experience working with children. We want to invest in you! We offer paid training, flexible scheduling, competitive pay and opportunities for growth (no swim instructor or lifeguarding experience necessary). For this role, dependability & great attitude are key. Our team is made up of fun people who enjoy working with children, interacting with the public & have a passion for teaching/coaching and making a difference! You’ll enjoy a positive work culture and have the ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining focus & safety. This is a part time position located in Nampa for 10-30 hours a week. Hours are flexible and can include weekday and weekend mornings and afternoons. Pay starts at $13-$14/hr depending on experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum age requirement is sixteen (16)
  • Swimming experience is helpful, but not required
  • Ability to work with children
  • Ability to learn, be trained & coached
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and organizational skills
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification required (provided and paid for by us)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a swim instructor, certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider preferred
  • Shallow water attendant, highly recommended

Responsibilities

  • Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum (we provide the training!)
  • Enforces safety rules & regulations to prevent accidents
  • Makes rescues & administers first aid when necessary
  • Evaluates students’ progress, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner
  • Interacts with parents/guardians on the activities & development of students’ swim skills
  • Acts as a Goldfish “ambassador” to ensure parental satisfaction
  • Uses problem solving & creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter
  • Inspects pool areas before & after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues and reports issues to management as appropriate
  • Maintains & ensures proper storage of all pool equipment, places & removes lane lines
  • Reports accidents & incidents to management, completes required documentation & paperwork
  • Performs light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, trash removal etc. on occasion
  • Attends required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours
  • Fulfills other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Employer
