About The Position

The YMCA Swim Instructor-In Training position is designed for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about water safety and teaching. This role involves shadowing certified swim instructors while working towards obtaining the required YMCA Swim Instructor Skills Verification within 90 days of hire. The position emphasizes providing excellent customer service in a safe and enjoyable environment, promoting member safety and satisfaction.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 16.
• Experience swimming; training will be provided for teaching swim lessons techniques and certification.
• Ability to swim in shallow and deep water, and tread water (Stage 4 level swimming skill).
• Patience and the ability to communicate with all ages and levels of swimmers.
• Dedication to member safety and the mission of the YMCA.

• Experience working with diverse kids and families in a group setting.

Responsibilities

• Shadow and assist certified swim instructors to learn programming and emergency procedures.
• Communicate policies and procedures for the pool and whirlpool consistently.
• Provide excellent customer service in a safe and positive atmosphere.
