About The Position

The Swim Instructor - Group position is a part-time, non-exempt role within the Recreation division, located at the Community Recreation Center in Wheeling, IL. The instructor will report to the Aquatics Manager and will not have any supervisory responsibilities. The role requires physical ability and endurance to perform essential job duties, maintain a professional image, and enforce all rules and regulations to create a safe aquatic environment. The instructor is expected to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of swimming lessons and first aid procedures, actively participate in quarterly Swim Instructor Trainings, and accept responsibility for the cleanliness of the facility. Consistent attendance and punctuality are crucial, as well as the ability to work with both children and adults in a positive manner.

Requirements

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified.
• Demonstrated maturity, reliability, initiative, and responsibility.
• Ability to provide excellent guest service and positively interact with guests.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional image and enforce all rules and regulations.
• Create a safe aquatic environment.
• Perform the job safely and in compliance with Park District policies.
• Demonstrate knowledge of swimming lessons and first aid procedures.
• Participate in Swim Instructor Trainings held quarterly.
• Ensure cleanliness of the facility as assigned.
• Exhibit organizational values such as respect, communication, and integrity.
• Work as scheduled with consistent attendance and on-time arrival.
• Set up and clean up the facility before opening and after closing.
• Perform other duties or special projects as assigned.
