About The Position

This position supports NOAA, NASA, and the GSMO-3 contract as part of the Spacecraft Mission Operations Support Team (MOST) for the SWFO-L1 Mission . The role provides Mission Operations , Post-Launch Testing , and Commissioning support , ensuring successful mission objectives. Must be a U.S. Citizen MOST engineers participate in commissioning and routine flight operations as delegated by the MOST Lead Engineer. Mission Operations Teams provide 24x7 shift staffing and perform functions in: Health and Safety Monitoring Mission Planning and Scheduling Network Scheduling Space-to-Ground Communications and Networks Communications Security Maneuvers Data Distribution Ground Systems Operation Simulations

Requirements

  • Experience as a NOAA or NASA SWFO-L1 Mission Operations Engineer or SWFO-L1 Ground Readiness Engineer .
  • Knowledge of SWFO-L1 Concept of Operations (ConOps) , Mission Phase Plans , and Flight Operations Plan (FOP) .
  • Familiarity with NOAA mission operations including: Real-Time Health and Safety Monitoring Commanding and Telemetry Processing Mission Planning and Scheduling Space-to-Ground Communications and Networks Ground Systems Engineering Communications Security
  • Experience supporting mission reviews (PLT, Transition Readiness, Anomaly Reviews).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering or related technical field.
  • 6+ years of progressively complex spacecraft mission operations experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of NOAA software such as OS/Comet is beneficial.
  • Experience with NOAA Mission Operations Team training and certification.
  • Security clearance is not required , but beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Support mission operations during commissioning and routine flight phases.
  • Perform real-time health and safety monitoring, commanding, and telemetry processing.
  • Assist with mission planning, timeline management, and scheduling.
  • Support space-to-ground communications, network operations, and ground systems engineering.
  • Participate in mission reviews including Post-Launch Test (PLT), Transition Readiness, and Anomaly Reviews.
  • Contribute to training and certification for NOAA Mission Operations Team.
