About The Position

The position is responsible for street cleaning and maintenance and repairs of public thoroughfare and related improvements. Frequent overtime evening hours, weekends, and holidays, plus stand-by on a rotation basis. This position has been classified as a safety-sensitive position and is subject to our drug testing policy to include pre-employment, random, reasonable suspicion, and post-accident for the following prohibited substances: marijuana, amphetamines, opioids, phencyclidine (PCP), and cocaine, as well as any drug not approved for medical use by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration or the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

Requirements

• Two (2) years' experience in operation and maintenance of light equipment with a workable knowledge of street sweepers.
• Experience in street maintenance and repairs.
• Valid New Mexico Commercial Driver's License with appropriate endorsements, or be able to obtain within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Operates street sweeper, and maintain records of maintenance and operations.
• Cleans, services and makes minor adjustments according to manufacturer's specifications.
• Do minor repairs to equipment, such as replacing gutter brooms, curtains on pick-up head, belt adjustments on blower fan, gutter broom, using check list in operator's manual.
• Assist in other areas as pavement, alley repairs, chip sealing, operating dump trucks, rollers or traffic control.
• Assist with snow and ice control operating salt, sand trucks or trucks with mounted plows.
• Assist with the clean-up of areas of responsibility in Service Center Complex.
