Once training is completed, beginning substitute drivers earn $33.18 an hour. New drivers are typically hired into substitute driver roles, after which opportunities can turn into permanent positions; the starting hourly wage for a regular route is $34.93. SVSD also offers up to $2,500 as a starting incentive to newly-hired drivers, upon completing the program requirements and transporting students. Candidates must have good driving skills and an excellent driving record. This is a great opportunity to earn supplemental income that is close to home. The District will provide necessary training, including Commercial Driver License (CDL), for all new hires.
