About The Position

Provides leadership to the Trust Portfolio Management team and directs others in the implementation of policy and procedures. Responsible for managing, evaluating, and monitoring of top-tier investment portfolios of high value or complexity. Manages funds and accounts in accordance with Synovus Trust Company's investment policy. Reviews accounts for proper compliance with investment objectives and recommends changes based on policy standards. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related field
  • 10 years portfolio management experience in progressively responsible positions; demonstrated experience managing diverse, complex and high risk investment portfolios
  • Demonstrated experience resolving complex investment issues and successfully balancing organization and client risk
  • Extensive knowledge of financial markets and portfolio management
  • Expert understanding of the functions and processes of the various U.S securities markets
  • Expert understanding of accounting principals and their application in understanding financial forms and reports
  • Expert knowledge of established federal and state regulatory laws, regulations, and policies governing investment transactions
  • Thorough understanding of trust and tax law
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiating and marketing skills to work with clients, senior management and external agencies on significant matters
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other required software applications

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and manages top-tier trust accounts in accordance with their specific investment objectives; determines asset allocation, security selection and performs market analysis.
  • Develops and oversees the implementation of policies and strategies of the investment function, including asset allocation, security selection and maintenance of approved investment policies.
  • Meets regularly and develops relationship and rapport with clients and relationship managers; reviews investment objectives and status; consults on overall investment policies and strategy.
  • Participates actively in the design of investment products and structure for maximum client satisfaction.
  • Provides oversight of investment process through reporting responsibilities to appropriate fiduciary and oversight committees.
  • Participates actively in closing new business sales and provides a leading role in selling branded asset management strategies.
  • Coordinates estate and income tax planning efforts by attorneys.
  • May lead the day-to-day activities of the lower level portfolio managers. Provides leadership and direction to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws.
  • Each team member is expected to be aware of risk within their functional area. This includes observing all policies, procedures, laws, regulations and risk limits specific to their role. Additionally, they should raise and report known or suspected violations to the appropriate Company authority in a timely fashion.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
