About The Position

Responsible for helping to build a world-class data platform that brings efficiencies to the mortgage process, expands current product offerings, improves customer experience, and drives innovation and competitive advantage within the lending industry. Responsible for recruiting and leading a diverse, inclusive, and high performing team of data and technology professionals and ensuring that loanDepot is a great place to work by focusing on career development, training, and continuous technical and professional development. Serves as a thought leader and a “strong voice” for technology and engineering initiatives within loanDepot’s leadership team. Establishes and institutionalizes strong engineering practices to deliver world-class products predictably and reliably to stakeholders and builds open and trusted relationships with colleagues across product, engineering, architecture, infrastructure, information security, and the various lines of business.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates knowledge of, adherence to, monitoring and responsibility for compliance with state and federal regulations and laws as they pertain to this position.
  • Knowledge of data integration patterns leveraging API, streaming technologies (Kafka), ETL, ELT.
  • Knowledge and strong familiarity with tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Strong experience and working knowledge with Databricks, Fivetran and Medallion Architecture.
  • Experience with CDM/MDM strategy and DaaS, etc.
  • Experience developing APIs (REST or GraphQL) in support of data as a service-based application.
  • Experience building scalable cloud products on Azure(preferred), AWS, etc.
  • Experience working with containerized applications (Docker) and related orchestration platforms (K8, Docker-Compose).
  • Experience building large-scale Data Warehousing systems using technologies such as Synapse, Snowflake, etc.
  • Experience with analytics frameworks and with storage systems, distributed systems, or data processing.
  • Experience working in a big data & NoSQL environment (Spark, HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB).
  • Experience in understanding and analyzing data using statistical software - e.g., Python, R, or related technologies.
  • Technical background in data with a deep understanding of issues in multiple areas such as data acquisition and processing, data management, distributed processing, and high availability is required.
  • Solid foundation in design, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred and a minimum of ten (10) + years’ experience building enterprise data programs.

Responsibilities

  • Builds a high-performance, scalable, and reliable data platform and machine learning infrastructure that enables content and experience personalization to expand the impact and value of our product.
  • Participates in design, architectural and operational decisions, driving data engineering initiatives from definition to delivery and maintenance, working closely with Product Management (PM) to determine what to build.
  • Enables data usability, availability, and efficiency to create product strategies to address market needs and translate them into a product roadmap.
  • Defines a long-term data strategy that enables sophisticated decision-making across the business and establishes best practices of data governance and management.
  • Establishes data standards for analytical data over business terms, business definitions, enterprise code sets, data elements, and business rules.
  • Establishes and enhances an experimentation platform and provides analytical support on experiment design and metrics innovation.
  • Works with executive management to ensure all activities associated with software development align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Works closely with the technology organizations to create an environment and architecture that makes data accessible to appropriate channels and across customer life cycle.
  • Provides thought leadership in proper implementation of processes and tools that best align with the organization’s strategic objectives.
  • Implements a data & information management organization structure based on a methodology process aligned to industry leading technology trends to deliver with speed, agility & quality.
  • Promotes a culture of developing best in class software by empowering our teams to follow data governance, design, engineering, and quality best practices.
