The Portfolio Manager for Eastern Bank manages the company’s $5 billion fixed income investment portfolio. The portfolio manager will lead the development and execution of the bond portfolio strategy under the oversight of the Asset and Liability Committee with a focus on meeting the Company’s earnings, liquidity, credit, and interest rate risk parameters. Lead the design, execution, and ongoing management of the Bank’s $5 billion fixed income investment portfolio, balancing earnings performance, liquidity, pledgeability, credit quality, cash flow profile, duration, and interest rate risk. Portfolio strategy is developed under the oversight of the Treasurer and the Asset and Liability Committee (ALCO) and aligned with the Bank’s risk appetite, policy limits, and strategic objectives. Prepare and present comprehensive portfolio analytics, strategy updates, and recommendations to ALCO, including performance attribution, market outlook, risk positioning, policy compliance, and proposed portfolio actions. Serve as a subject‑matter expert to support informed committee decision‑making related to interest rate risk, liquidity, and balance sheet strategy. Maintain advanced expertise across a broad range of fixed income instruments, including residential and commercial mortgage‑backed securities, corporate bonds, municipal securities, and other structured or taxable products. Monitor market, economic, and regulatory developments impacting valuation, liquidity, and risk characteristics, and proactively translate these insights into portfolio strategy recommendations. Oversee trade execution activities, including pricing evaluation, transaction structuring, and settlement coordination. Manage broker‑dealer relationships and trading platforms to ensure competitive execution, strong market access, and adherence to internal controls, policies, and regulatory requirements Provide oversight of the Bank’s loan level hedging program (counterparty facing), managed by the Treasury Associate, ensuring activities align with customer needs, risk management objectives, regulatory expectations, and internal policies. Oversee the Bank’s BOLI portfolio, including performance monitoring, credit quality assessment, regulatory compliance, and coordination with accounting and risk functions. PROBLEM SOLVING & DECISION MAKING This position operates with a high degree of autonomy and with regular collaboration with the Executive team, Corporate Treasury and Accounting.
