Position Summary The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) is a strategic executive leader responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing, branding, and member growth strategies that advance the credit union’s mission, financial strength, and community impact. As a key member of the executive leadership team, the CMO drives brand awareness, member acquisition and retention, product marketing, digital engagement, and community partnerships while ensuring alignment with the credit union’s values and regulatory environment. Supervises: Director of Marketing, Director of Strategy & Planning, Director of Inclusive Banking & Community Relations Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Strategic Leadership Develop and implement a multi-year marketing strategy aligned with the credit union’s growth objectives and member-focused mission. Serve as a strategic advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors on brand positioning, market expansion, and competitive differentiation. Lead annual marketing planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance reporting. Leverage market research, member insights, and data analytics to guide strategic decisions. Brand & Member Experience Define and steward the credit union’s brand identity across all channels and touchpoints. Ensure a consistent, member-centric experience across digital, branch, and community interactions. Oversee public relations, reputation management, and crisis communication strategies. Growth & Product Marketing Partner with lending, retail, digital banking, and operations teams to design and promote competitive financial products and services. Drive member acquisition, cross-sell, and retention strategies across consumer and business segments. Develop targeted campaigns using segmentation, lifecycle marketing, and personalization strategies. Digital & Performance Marketing Lead digital transformation initiatives related to marketing technology (CRM, marketing automation, analytics). Oversee website strategy, SEO/SEM, social media, email marketing, paid media, and content marketing. Monitor KPIs including ROI, cost per acquisition, engagement metrics, and campaign performance. Community & Partnerships Strengthen community presence through sponsorships, financial education programs, and strategic partnerships. Build relationships with local organizations and community leaders to enhance brand visibility and trust. Team Leadership & Development Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing marketing team. Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Manage external agencies, vendors, and strategic partners.
