The position involves collaborating with R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to identify manufacturing capabilities, efficient production methods, quality risks, and cost impacts that will lead to modifications or improvements in product designs. The role requires coordination with Purchasing personnel to support the effective introduction of product changes related to vendors, subcontractors, and inventory management. Maintaining the accuracy of active product designs within a standardized database is essential, which includes regular communication with engineers, production employees, and quality control. The individual will also be responsible for achieving cost savings goals through various means such as reducing component costs, improving manufacturing efficiency, and implementing error-proofing measures. Advising all affected departments regarding the broad impact of product changes is a key responsibility, as is managing projects individually or by leading a team. The role includes conducting meetings and coordinating with employees, suppliers, and outside contractors, as well as developing vendors on technical subjects to ensure products meet required specifications and quality standards. The position may also involve assisting others on complex electronic design issues and supporting Manufacturing Engineering with shop floor automation improvements. Regular training on relevant subjects and staying informed of industry practices and standards is expected.
