About The Position

Position Overview: UNC Wilmington Dining Services is seeking a dedicated and motivated intern to serve as a Sustainability Ambassador. This internship offers an excellent opportunity for students to engage in a variety of sustainability initiatives and gain hands-on experience in food service sustainability. The selected intern will contribute to key projects focused on local tracking, waste diversion, sustainable sourcing, environmental education, and more, while working with a dynamic team committed to advancing sustainability on campus.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Self-motivated, proactive, and quick to learn.
• Interest in sustainability, food service practices, and sustainable food systems.
• Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, with comfort in interacting with diverse groups in various settings (one-on-one and in group environments).
• Current enrollment at UNC Wilmington is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in local sustainability tracking and reporting.
• Support sustainable procurement efforts for food and materials.
• Help organize and participate in sustainability events, including Fair Trade, Cool Food, Waste Wise Wednesdays, and other related campus initiatives.
• Provide general office support, including research and administrative tasks related to sustainability programs.
