About The Position

The Sustainability Strategist Lead drives Goodyear’s human and labor rights program by independently partnering with business leaders to assess risks and opportunities and develop strategies, policies, metrics, and action plans. The role builds human and labor rights expertise, educates leaders on customer requests, regulatory developments, and industry best practices, and develops reporting content to support transparency and meet stakeholder needs. It also contributes to enterprise risk management and governance through internal councils and working groups. Additionally, the strategist analyzes data, evaluates current state practices, and co-creates solutions to address complex sustainability challenges across the business. What You’ll Do Strategy Development: Work independently with business leaders on assigned sustainability topics, with a primary focus on human and labor rights. Work with leaders to assess Goodyear's risks and opportunities, prioritize focus areas, develop strategies, policies, metrics, targets, and action plans to manage risks and opportunities. Identify any new/enhanced systems, tools, and processes needed to effectively manage these material sustainability topics and help secure/develop these items (as needed). Awareness and Education: Research, build expertise, and educate business leaders on these assigned topics (ex. sustainability-related regulatory developments, risks and opportunities, stakeholder requests, voluntary and mandatory reporting requirements, hot topics, benchmarking, best practices, standards, and/or certifications). Stakeholder Requests and Reporting: Develop reporting content for the sustainability topics being led, primarily human and labor rights. Provide input for these topics on the annual double-materiality assessment. Work to effectively close various stakeholder request and reporting gaps related to owned topics. Risk Management, Compliance, and Ethics: Participate in internal councils/working groups to contribute to key initiatives, strategy development, governance, and/or action planning to advance enterprise risk management, compliance and ethics, employee engagement on these topics, etc. Data Analysis and Problem-Solving: Work with business leaders on specific projects to assess the current state of assigned topics/sub-topics, analyze the data, and co-develop solutions for the various complex challenges that can be managed by the business on an ongoing basis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, International Relations, Law, Sustainability Studies, or a related field.
  • 7 or more years of diverse business experience encompassing leadership, regulatory understanding, stakeholder engagement, cross‑cultural communication, policy development, risk analysis, strategy formation, and performance management.

Nice To Haves

  • Project management certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of international sustainability-related laws/regulations/standards and strong ethical grounding
  • Strategic thinking, problem-solving, and planning - developing a long-term vision, aligning the program/projects with business objectives, creating roadmaps
  • Program and project management skills - independently guiding programs and leading/supporting various sub-projects
  • Business acumen, cultural sensitivity, geopolitical awareness, and the ability to adapt/pivot (as required)
