About The Position

The Sustainability Specialist plays a key role in implementing and advancing sustainability initiatives at Toyota Material Handling North America (TMHNA), including focusing on reducing the company’s environmental footprint and promoting sustainable business practices across the organization. This role involves collaboration with multiple departments and stakeholders to ensure that sustainability is integrated into all business operations and objectives. Is required to provide support to multiple sites. Performs work under minimal supervision. Projects are generally large/complex in scope and generally have impact at an individual, departmental, divisional and/or corporate wide level. Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in ESG/sustainability, environmental science, or a related field.
  • 1 – 4 years of experience in ESG/Sustainability

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment.
  • Knowledge of sustainability reporting standards and raters (e.g., GHG Protocol, GRI, IFRS/ISSB, CDP, EcoVadis, Sustainalytics, CRSD)

Responsibilities

  • Support sustainability initiatives including greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory and reduction, energy conservation, recycling, community engagement, and ESG reporting.
  • Collect, analyze, and report sustainability and ESG data using software platforms; maintain accurate records and ensure compliance.
  • Prepare high-quality internal and external sustainability reports and respond to customer ESG requests (e.g., EcoVadis, surveys).
  • Partner with the TMHNA dealer network and other stakeholders to gather ESG data and advance sustainability objectives.
  • Develop and communicate sustainability programs, policies, training, and awareness campaigns.
  • Conduct market research and competitive ESG analysis to inform business strategy.
  • Support management of third-party sustainability vendors, including contract and invoice oversight.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, organizational, communication, and project management skills.
  • Maintain regular onsite attendance to support collaboration and teamwork.
