This role is essential to executing Caterpillar's enterprise sustainability strategy through structured program management, data interpretation, and cross-functional coordination. You will lead the intake and response process for customer sustainability requests and ESG surveys, working closely with internal partners to ensure accurate, timely, and aligned data delivery. You will manage the annual Sustainability Report timeline and review process and support the development and enforcement of procedures that improve consistency and transparency in sustainability disclosures. This position is ideal for someone who excels at managing complex workflows, interpreting sustainability data, and understanding customer expectations in a rapidly evolving ESG landscape.

  • Manage Caterpillar responses to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) surveys from rating agencies, including updates on trends, opportunities, and recommendations for leadership and investor audiences.
  • Lead project management, review process and timeline of Caterpillar's annual Sustainability Report.
  • Provide sustainability expertise to confirm alignment of company marketing materials to enterprise sustainability messaging guidelines.
  • Oversee intake, review and completion of customer sustainability requests and surveys, work with internal subject matter experts, legal and leadership to ensure accurate and timely responses.
  • Gather, benchmark, and analyze data related to sustainability initiatives and outcomes, including reviewing reporting, gathering data, and developing communications to convey key messages for leadership.
  • Lead process improvement and documentation efforts for sustainability disclosure initiatives.
  • Adhere to and enforce standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational, tactical, and strategic planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
  • Ability to take large volumes of data and distill into trends and themes.
  • Knowledge of successful approaches and techniques for dealing with change; ability to adapt to a changing environment and be comfortable with change.
  • Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.
  • Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities.
  • Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
  • Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects.
  • Knowledge of global regulatory environment and evolving sustainability frameworks pertaining to sustainability reporting.
  • MBA or master's degree.
  • Previous experience with ESG ratings agencies (MSCI, ISS, etc.), global customer inquiries, sustainability reporting, and/or sustainability data interpretation.
  • Working knowledge of ESG voluntary and regulatory reporting frameworks and standards, including but not limited to CSRD, GRI, SASB, GHG Protocol, TCFD, CDSB, EFRAG, ISSB.
  • Experience in energy, industrials, heavy equipment, automotive, or similar engineering- or manufacturing-based industries.
