About The Position

The Sustainability Manager at Navistar, Inc. will play a crucial role in supporting the company's vision of accelerating sustainable mobility. This position focuses on executing strategies related to decarbonization, circular business, human rights, and sustainable sourcing across the supply chain. The manager will work closely with procurement and suppliers to enhance sustainability performance and ensure compliance with responsible sourcing and social sustainability standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience
  • At least 1 year of lead experience OR Master's degree with at least 3 years of purchasing/procurement experience and 1 year of lead experience OR at least 8 years of purchasing/procurement experience and 1 year of lead experience.

  • Procurement background with experience in the automotive or commercial vehicle industries or manufacturing preferred.
  • Background in sustainability, ESG, or corporate social responsibility.
  • Experience developing strategies and discovering new solutions.
  • Effective team-player who is comfortable working cross-functionally and with external stakeholders.
  • Confident, articulate, and professional communication abilities.
  • Excellent time management skills - can organize and prioritize multiple projects and meet specific deadlines.
  • Ability to understand regulatory and reporting requirements, and technical concepts.
  • Skilled at developing executive level presentations.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Understanding of process development and continuous improvement principles.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the procurement organization and suppliers to improve sustainability performance within the defined areas.
  • Communicate directly with suppliers on key tasks and expectations as needed, with a polished and professional engagement style.
  • Gather and analyze data within the supplier network to identify and act on environmental, social, and compliance risks and opportunities.
  • Conduct in-depth investigations of external supply chains and sub-tier suppliers to identify potential risks.
  • Research regulations, emerging trends, new technologies and benchmarking data, and present summaries, insights and recommendations.
  • Help to develop and drive programs and projects that address human rights and environmental issues in the supply chain.
  • Utilize existing tools and processes to evaluate supply chains, improve visibility, conduct due diligence, and investigate potential violations of International's responsibility standards.
  • Organize and lead supply chain mapping initiatives and store key visibility data, in line with international due diligence regulations.
  • Actively engage and lead cross-functionally within the company.
  • Develop, maintain and communicate executive level reporting metrics and plans related to high-risk suppliers, raw materials, and other supply chain risks.
  • Track and monitor timely completion of action items and report out on progress as required.
  • Find opportunities to drive continuous improvement.
