About The Position

The Sustainability Manager at Palmetto Goodwill is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring environmental strategies and goals, particularly focusing on the recycling program to minimize environmental impact. This role involves building strong relationships with recycling vendors, managing energy conservation programs, and analyzing data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement in sustainability initiatives. The manager will ensure the effective operation of recycling and solid waste processes, while also exploring new business opportunities and maintaining awareness of industry trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Sustainability, Compliance, Environmental Policy, Economics, or a related field.
• Sound understanding of environmental, economic, social, and governance issues.
• Strong research skills with the ability to analyze and interpret data.
• Superior interpersonal skills and relationship-building abilities.
• Ability to present information effectively and respond to inquiries with tact and courtesy.
• Exceptional decision-making skills with a strategic approach to opportunities.
• Ability to manage confidential information discreetly.
• Experience with general office equipment and proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Office, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Support the development and implementation of environmental strategies and goals for the recycling program.
• Establish strong business relationships with recycling vendors and business accounts.
• Develop energy conservation programs to manage energy and utility consumption.
• Collect and analyze data on sustainability initiatives to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure successful delivery of recycling and solid waste operations, including processing and marketing recyclables.
• Ensure responsible disposal of all recyclables.
• Assess and develop new business opportunities related to sustainability.
• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of industry trends and technical developments.
• Research and develop a list of potential salvage/recycling vendors and explore new markets.
• Prepare regular updates, presentations, and reports on recycling initiatives.
• Work flexible hours and respond to emergencies as needed.
