We are seeking a Senior Technical Program Manager (Sr. TPM) – Hardware Technology Engineering to join the CO+I Systems Technology team (STT). This role focuses on enabling innovation across networking and sustainability for AI cloud infrastructure including hardware and datacenter environments. You will lead the development of cutting-edge technologies, scale new innovations, and drive the planning and reliability roadmap to enhance future datacenters' efficiency and sustainability. The ideal candidate will be versatile across many technology domains, independently thrives in highly ambiguous environments, excels in executive communication, and is a strong collaborator in a matrixed organization. In this pivotal role, you will be the program management lead and partner with a technical subject matter experts to innovate on leading edge network technologies/solutions and sustainability initiatives. This is a hands-on role, with potential lab work and traveling to data centers/vendor facilities on occasion. You will gain valuable skills in advanced technology development, planning, and execution, while collaborating with other TPMs and technologists to solve complex challenges. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • Background Check Requirements:
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development OR equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
  • 1+ year(s) of experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).
  • Experience supporting or leading large‑scale infrastructure or data center programs across design, construction, and/or operations.
  • Strong technical expertise in life cycle assessment (LCA) methodologies and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), including hands‑on evaluation of materials and equipment used in complex infrastructure systems.
  • Deep working knowledge of embodied carbon accounting, including interpretation of LCA outputs, Global Warming Potential (GWP) metrics, system boundaries, and material‑level carbon comparisons (e.g., steel, concrete, mechanical and electrical equipment)
  • Experience applying carbon accounting and sustainability governance frameworks to inform technical decision‑making, investment trade‑offs, program reporting, and risk management.
  • Proven ability to partner with suppliers and external stakeholders to assess product‑level environmental data, validate assumptions, influence data quality, and drive embodied carbon reduction strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate autonomously in ambiguous, evolving technical spaces, helping define and standardize new processes, analytical tools, or technical approaches that scale across programs or portfolios

Responsibilities

  • Technology Roadmap Ownership: Drive and own the network innovation roadmap within the team, facilitating development and brining multiple technologies/solutions to a production ready state.
  • Project Management: Support innovative projects from ideation to productization, ensuring alignment with Microsoft’s sustainability and business objectives. Manage multiple programs, technologies, and disciplines. Structure and communicate milestones, commitments, budgets, and project plans. Ensure effective time management and prioritization, and flag/mitigate risks to project deliverables.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with technical SMEs to synthesize and then convey the technological impact to leadership and partner organizations.
  • Supplier Management: Build and manage contracts, track budgets, deliverables, and milestone timelines with suppliers.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategic plans; orchestrate technology evaluation and planning in partnership with teams across the company to ensure long-term growth.
  • Performance and Reliability roadmap: Define business success criteria incorporating availability, reliability, and performance OKRs; address roadmap challenges through data-driven approaches, studies, and research.
  • Technical Expertise: Weigh in on industry trends with networking and also potentially related to hardware, servers, data center cooling, liquid cooling, carbon capture technologies, power, or sustainability, innovations for cloud infrastructure.
  • Relationship Building: Navigate complex organization structures to build partnerships, trust, and collaborations to drive momentum around adopting cutting edge technologies.
  • Technical Communication: Translate deep engineering and technical concepts into business-centric communication for executive-level stakeholders.
  • Initiative Drive: Drive technological initiatives from concepts to larger projects, including:
  • Early incubation planning and budgeting
  • Defining success criteria
  • Identifying business impact
  • Partner outreach
  • Arranging/planning roadshows
  • Planning next stages using project management software (e.g., Wrike, MS Projects)
  • Managing and planning knowledge and ownership transfers
  • Trend Monitoring: Stay current with technology trends by monitoring and analyzing developments in cloud technology and sustainability, identifying best practices and opportunities for improvement.
  • Culture of Innovation & Collaboration: Champion and model a culture of technological innovation and sustainability within the company through allyship, collaboration, subject matter expertise, and forward-thinking approaches.
